Hi, I’m Roslyn McLarty.
I’m a founder and executive coach.
I help founders fall in love with building their companies again.
Because, I know what it’s like to fall out of love with building your company.
I started my first company when I was 25.
It’s called The GIST, and it’s a women-led, mission-driven sports media startup making sports more inclusive and accessible for underserved sports fans.
While at The GIST, I was recognized as Forbes 30u30 in their media category and accelerated and funded by global brands like Facebook, Comcast NBC, Techstars and Billie Jean King’s Trailblazer program.
As the former Head of Ops, Finance & Growth, I grew The GIST alongside my co-founders to a multi-million dollar company run by a 40-person team — predominantly of women and non-binary folks — providing over a million GISTers with relatable, equal sports coverage.
Although I was experiencing all of the “outer success” I thought would make me feel “enough”, on the inside, I was struggling.
I woke up one morning in June of 2023, and realized things were very not ok.
I was physically and emotionally exhausted, yet I couldn’t sleep. Anxiety and endless rumination kept me awake, replaying all the ways I could have done better and worrying about all the ways I might fail.
I felt a dullness, an apathy, an inability to care about aspects of my life that once brought me meaning and excitement.
I felt this debilitating overwhelm at the thought of work tasks that used to feel so simple.
I was haunted by a tormenting inner voice of criticism, telling me that I wasn’t a good enough co-founder, leader, manager, or even person.
I carried a constant unease, fearing that others saw me the same way — or that any minute they might discover that I was a failure.
And I felt hopeless that I’d never find a way out.
After months of leave and contemplation, I eventually came to the heartbreaking decision to step away from my company.
That kicked off a year of intense personal transformation…
…of deep healing and self-discovery — to learn the tools that have helped me reconnect with my true self, and that would eventually help me better support my clients too.
I worked with all types of healing modalities, from coaching, EMDR, parts work, somatic experiencing and family therapy, to breathwork, meditation, plant medicine, self-hypnosis and acupuncture to…even rage journaling.
Ultimately my burnout was an opportunity
To face my unhealed core wounds, limiting beliefs and a fundamental misalignment from my soul.
My newfound intuition led me to pursue a coaching certification — a program that beautifully blends Eastern and Western philosophies, combining sociology, neuroscience, and somatics with spirituality.
And to launch Within... ... to help founders do the inner work that supports their outer success.
I genuinely believe in a new way of building companies, with less toxic hustle and clinging to control, and more compassion, intuition and joy.
I help founders feel more confident, aligned and energized. And to level up their leadership so they can lead their team to success, and enjoy their lives along the way.
Although burning out and moving on from my company was one of the hardest events of my life, it also offered me the greatest gift.
To heal myself and rebuild my life with more integrity, meaning and alignment. And in doing so, to create the capacity to support founders with the same.
You may be wondering, “So, who is Roslyn outside of work?”
Now that I’m living a more balanced life, you might find me:
Strolling the Brooklyn Heights promenade with a good podcast, a matcha latte, and hopefully a croissant from my favorite neighborhood bakery (it’s l’Appartement 4f, you MUST try it).
Making my pre-teen heart happy by browsing a bookstore or sitting on the couch nose deep in a novel — I love a good literary fiction, a psychological thriller, a romance, fantasy, or a murder mystery.
Checking in with the stars. Astrologically, my sun and rising are in Cancer and my moon is in Aries, so I think it *just makes sense* that I’m obsessed with building a company that’s all about helping founders “go within”...to heal and feel their feelings, in order to successfully scale kickass, purpose-led companies.
Brainstorming new creative and business ideas. I know I’m busy enough getting my current business off the ground, but I’m a dreamer with a lottt of initiating energy (aka I LOVE getting new things started but following through can be more effort for me).
Hanging out at home. I do love to travel, but sitting cozy on my couch with a coffee and a book while my partner watches football beside me makes me feel very at peace.
Being a yoga and pilates girlie. I actually did my Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica in 2016 — back when I was starting to more deeply explore yoga, mindfulness and spirituality (on the side of being a CPA working in Big 4 Accounting!).
